2010 RFS Bike Econorun Newsletter 1

Good day all my two wheel petrolhead Friends,

Well this was certainly one of the fastest years in a long time, the revs were in the red the whole time. I had a very satisfying but eventful year, yes the downswing hit all of us, but I wish you all a bright future and a prosperous 2010.

Recession hits bikers

The 2010 date for the Retirement Fund Solutions Bike Econorun is planned for the Friday (yes) 13th and Saturday 14th of August 2010, please diarise it now already to avoid disappointment. The country should be back in normal mode after the soccermania and the winter should have left with the overseas spectators.

As usual a lot of planning is already underway to run another successful and exiting event next year, we plan some changes but will keep you up to date early in the New Year.
Many thanks to all of you that phoned and wrote with comments, suggestions and thank you’s , we appreciate your participation and will definitely try to incorporate all your input into the event and the rules.

Our two biggest challenges in planning the RFS Bike Econorun are the roads and the accommodation, I think in Hotel Numbi we have found the perfect finishing venue with Willie, Edna and their merry staff and we will use them until they chase us away.

A journey in any vehicle on the “platteland” is a suicide mission, even more on two wheels as we discovered on a recce run around Lesotho after the Rhino Rally. We will have to plan carefully to avoid the biggest potholes, but like in the past we will somehow overcome this hurdle as well to ensure a safe journey for all involved.

From me, Hannes “the Rock”, the PMC team and the RFS staff we wish you all a merry Christmas, a relaxing holiday break and a very successful new year.

Please drive safely wherever your wheels take you to, keep the wind in your hair, the sparkle in your eyes, the bikes upright and stay positive !.

We are looking forward to meet with all of you and some new friends on the 2010 RFS Bike Econorun.

Kind regards from Francois and THE TEAM from the PMC
